"August Sky” is a landmark CD. Recorded as a solo piano album during the last week of August, 2001, 6 improvisational compositions were born bearing the heart and soul of Rich Smith. The events that followed just a short time later forever changed many things, but not this CD. It lives on: the peace it brings, the innocence, wonder, exploration, free flowing ideas, passion, fire, love, it’s all there. A few brides have even made their way down the aisles to “Cloud Painting.” “Battle of the Birds” was inspired by a real life in-air bird fight that Rich witnessed high above the surrounding trees.
